GR-AWARE: GlobeRanger Asset Watching and Reporting Engine

GR-AWARE is a highly configurable asset management engine used for tracking everything from fire extinguishers to returnable containers to police weapons checkout and nuclear waste shipments.

The following is a sample of the solutions it supports:

Internal Asset Management, Reduced Asset Shrinkage and Control

o   Role-based prompts, only allow checkouts to authorized personnel

Vehicle Tracking

GR-AWARE has been used to track vehicles and nuclear waste shipments for the Department of Energy.  It can be used to track vehicle utilization across the enterprise, or track fork lift utilization and maintenance schedules on a single site.

Returnable Container Management

Totes, pallets, dairy racks, refillable gas containers, and other returnable containers can be tracked for chain of custody, utilization rates, repair history and more.  Tracking containers across multiple sites allows greater visibility to ensure all sites have the best inventory when needed.

Retail Cart Tracking

Tracking carts inside & outside allows for better cart return labor management, real time inventory to manage shrinkage.

Tracking when carts travel inside the store allows management to properly staff checkout lanes when a large number of customers has been detected inside the store.

Tracking carts as they move around the store allows the retailer to follow every customer’s browsing patterns.  Analyzing traffic patterns allows display optimization, and tying browsing patterns to POS data allows for ultimate intelligence and upsell opportunities.

Electronic Scheduled Inspection and Maintenance, Including Compliance Optimization

Assets that require scheduled inspection and maintenance for safety compliance, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, ladders and other safety equipment can be easily inspected using the configurable inspection checklist feature of GR-AWARE.  Electronic records are stored instantly and compliance and visibility can be shared at the enterprise level. 

Electronic inspection questionnaires and checklists are context-aware and the proper checklist is automatically brought up when a tag or barcode on the item or area is scanned, saving time and reducing human error.

Other required inspection records, such as food prep area inspection required for food safety regulations can be tracked for a new level of visibility and accountability.

All of these electronic records can be shared at the enterprise level to track compliance and performance of individual locations.

Temperature Monitoring

GR-AWARE allows site-wide real-time monitoring of cold areas and refrigeration units.  This easily allows site managers to adhere to food safety standards with real time alerts of refrigeration problems.  Temperature trending can help predict refrigeration unit failure, saving electricity from a poorly performing cooling unit. 

Enterprise-wide visibility of trends, maintenance records and failure rates can help identify poorly performing vendors and refrigeration models.

Production Lifecycle

GR-AWARE is used to track work-in-process for manufacturing and assembly.  The history of individual components can be tracked and tied to the finished product, providing high visibility into failure rates, recall necessity, manufacturing process improvements, and can catch errors in the assembly process before they happen.

!D Gate

The !D Gate is a modern, open pedestal that is mounted on the floor. Because it is an integrated reader, both the reader and antennae are included. It supports processes like goods receiving, transition from stock room to sales floor and anti-theft (EAS). Depending on the role, the optimum RFID parameters are chosen automatically.

!D Hand 2 - RAIN RFID handheld reader

The !D Hand 2 is Nedap’s 2nd generation RAIN RFID handheld reader, especially designed for in-store retail applications. Its high reading performance in combination with its intuitive, fashionable design make it the ideal device for store staff to work with.


The !D POS is an integrated reader to be used for reading items at the point-of-sale station. It has a small, rugged casing that can be mounted under the cash desk. The antenna only reads items on top of the reader, while ignoring items below or next to the antenna, due to the built-in shielding. It can be connected via USB or Ethernet, while the power can be supplied by a local power supply.

!D Top

The !D Top is a state-of-the-art integrated reader that can easily be mounted on the wall or to the ceiling - using almost invisible steel cables. Its elegant, compact design blends into every store, keeping the entrance of the store or the passage to the stock room wide open. At the store entrance, the !D Top can be used stand-alone as RFID-based EAS system or used as an addition to existing traditional EAS systems.

The MonsoonRF Inc. Lantern™ series of RFID readers are Impinj Indy R2000 or Indy RS2000 based RFID systems, comprising the integrated UHF reader, Antenna, controlled LED, and Communications System (a complete system-in-package). Lantern™ installation involves a simple connection to a common AC power source (110VAC or 240VAC depending on Region).
