RFID Journal and RFID in Healthcare Consortium to Host RFID in Health Care Seminar
During RFID Journal LIVE! 2010, leading hospitals and clinics will reveal ways to improve patient outcomes while cutting costs, automating payments and reducing capital expenditures.

Dec. 17, 2009—RFID Journal today announced that it is partnering with the RFID in Healthcare Consortium to host a one-day RFID in Health Care preconference seminar at the eighth annual RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition, to be held on Apr. 14-16, 2010, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

"Health-care companies are seeing real benefits from deploying real-time location systems, so we're pleased to be working with the RFID in Healthcare Consortium to educate hospitals and clinics on how they can benefit from these RFID systems," says Mark Roberti, RFID Journal's founder and editor. "As an added benefit, attendees to this seminar will be able to see all of the providers of systems for health-care RFID solutions in one place."

Among the confirmed speakers are:

  • Paul Frisch, assistant attending and clinical member in the Department of Medical Physics and chief of Biomedical Physics & Engineering, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
  • Troy Reiff, St. Vincent Seton Specialty Hospital's COO
  • Lisa Stepps, project manager for cardiovascular services at St. Joseph's Hospital
  • Robert S. Parker, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center's VP for support operations and community health
  • Jay Crowley, senior advisor for patient safety at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological Health

"As a practicing physician specializing in cardiology at the University of Pennsylvania, I'm pleased that the RFID in Healthcare Consortium and the International RFID Business Association are sponsoring this educational workshop in cooperation with RFID Journal," says Suraj Kapa, the consortium's president. "The use of wireless technologies in hospitals, especially RFID and RTLS, is gaining such prominence that understanding interoperability and the benefits can help us all in delivering the best possible health care."

In addition, LIVE! 2010 will feature technology exhibits and demonstrations conducted by the leading RFID companies worldwide. Motorola, whose RFID offerings are designed to help businesses simplify deployment, lower operational costs and achieve a return on investment, will be the event's cornerstone and registration sponsor. More than 175 RFID companies will exhibit at the conference, demonstrating their latest technology solutions. To become an exhibitor, contact sales@rfidjournal.com.
