The iN Series: Rugged, Embeddable, Award Winning by Dennis Khoo, CEO of Xerafy
February 01, 2011
It’s this time of the year again -- the Awards Season. Ironically, I’ve never been a big fan of awards … unless of course, we win! Nothing as dramatic as a 4am congratulatory call or a nail-biting 3-way showdown, Xerafy was awarded the 2011 Global Frost & Sullivan Product Innovation Award for RFID UHF in recognition of the technology breakthrough of ultra-high frequency interference when embedded in metal.
Last year, Xerafy introduced the world’s first line of UHF EPC C1G2 RFID tags explicitly designed for RFID-in-metal, something many has not seen before with UHF RFID tags. Understandably, the claim received a tremendous amount of attention from the industry and was quickly put to the test by several technology & research labs including The RFID Network who also exclaimed the “Pico-iN” to be the smallest RFID metal tag they’ve come across thus far.
The iN series' RFID in-metal technology made it possible for our customers to rethink the way tags can be deployed, providing RFID solutions previously unimaginable. Frost & Sullivan called the -iN product an “innovative RFID solution that highlight a uniqueness of strategy, improvement to market position, and leveraging competitive intelligence.”
The ability to work reliably and effectively in challenging environments and applications will help increase customer confidence in RFID. Consequently, this will promote the growth of new applications in the industry. “Xerafy’s product uniqueness lies in its revolutionary technology and emerged as a front runner in the industry because it overcame a technical hurdle of ultra-high radio frequency interference when embedded in metal,” said Susan Sahayan, research analyst for Frost & Sullivan’s Electronics and Security Group.
Over the next two weeks, we will take an in-depth look at our iN Series. From a guide for embedding tags in metallic assets to examining how to achieve maximum read ranges. We will examine what makes this tag so unique and award winning.
