FOR ATTENDEES
Q: What can I do with the app?
A: The app is designed to enhance the experience of attending an event with the planning and social-media tools on the RFID Connect Web site. When you register for one of our events, you will be able to view the agenda on the RFID Connect Web site, in order to add sessions to your planner, add exhibitors you want to see to your to-do list and request meetings with speakers, other attendees and exhibitors. Your event activity on RFID Connect will automatically synch with the phone app once it has been downloaded.
At the event, you can use the mobile app to view your personal event planner, search the agenda, add more to-dos and set up meeting reminders. The mobile app will also feature an interactive floor plan, allowing you to click on an exhibitor's booth to view its profile.
In addition, you can filter the exhibitor list and booths on the floor plan by product category (tags, readers, software and so forth), or by the industry solutions they offer (health care, retail, etc.). Please see the video titled "Finding the Right Exhibitors," on the left, to see how this is done.
Q: Can I use the RFID Connect smartphone app year-round?
A: RFID Connect is available year-round, but the app is designed for specific events. We will keep the data available in the app for several months following an event, but as we add new conferences, older events will be removed.
Q: Can I turn off reminders?
A: Yes. When you add a session to you planner, it will ask if you wish to receive a reminder 15 minutes prior to a session's starting time. You can turn this feature on and off by going to MORE and choosing Settings.
Q: Can I turn off alerts?
A: Yes. RFID Journal may send alerts via the RFID Connect mobile app during an event. For instance, we might alert everyone that a wallet was found, or that a session location was changed. In addition, we may send an alert on behalf of a sponsor to let everyone know about a live demonstration taking place, a prize giveaway or some other special event. You can control alerts by going to MORE and choosing Settings.
Q: How up-to-date is the information in the smartphone app?
A: The agenda and other information on the RFID Connect Web site is updated every night. Exhibitors may update their profiles at any time. Each time the smartphone app connects to the server, it downloads any updates in order to ensure that you have the most up-to-date information in the palm of your hand.
Q: Can I provide feedback about a session's quality through the RFID Connect smartphone app?
A: Yes. At the bottom of each session description in the mobile app, you will see a row of stars. You can cast your vote by selecting the number of stars you would like to rate for each session you attend.
Q: Can I vote for Best in Show and Coolest Demo through the smartphone app?
A: Yes, you can cast your vote via the smarthphone app at the event.
Q: Can I participate in your Passport Program?
A: Yes, you can scan a QR Code when you visit an exhibitor's booth. When you have visited 25 booths, you can stop by the RFID Journal booth for a chance to win a wide variety of prizes. The more booths you visit, the more chances you have to win.
FOR EXHIBITORS
Q: How can I sponsor the smartphone app?
A: Please contact your sales representative for advertising and sponsorship opportunities.
Q: How can I use the RFID Connect smartphone app to get more leads at an event?
A: The key is to use the RFID Connect Web site in the months leading up to the event. If you visit the event's Web site and click on See Who's Coming, you will be able to view a list of companies sending representatives to an event. If there is a company you have a solution for, type that firm's name in the RFID Connect search engine. You will see the names of attendees from that company. You can then send them a request for a meeting, or an e-mail asking them to visit your booth. You can also add the meeting to your planner in the smartphone app.
Additionally, if you are giving away a white paper or iPad, for instance, you can add this to Exhibitor Giveaways on RFIDConnect.com. Attendees can add these giveaways to their to-do list, so that they will remember to come by and pick up the item.
You can also advertise on the smartphone and send an alert to all attendees. Ask your salesperson for details.
Q: How can I get my company listed among the exhibitors at RFID Connect?
A: We add all exhibitors to the RFID Connect Web site and smartphone app automatically. However, you must create a profile before you can be added. All exhibitors are automatically given a Gold-level membership. If you re-sign for a booth for the following year, you will continue to receive a Gold membership for another year.
Q: How do I get my company listed by product category and industry solutions?
A: The smartphone app pulls information from each exhibitor's profile, which should be filled out on the RFID Connect Web site. Please choose only the products you actually sell and the industry solutions you actually provide. Adding items you don't actually offer will be counterproductive, because you will wind up fielding queries from attendees who are not potential customers, thereby limiting your time available to speak with attendees interested in your solutions.
Q: How can I send alerts to attendees?
A: You will need to contact your sales representative.
Q: How can I participate in the Coolest Demo and Best in Show competitions?
A: Best in Show is one of the categories for the RFID Journal Awards. You will need to fill out an entry form and submit it before Jan. 31, 2013. Visit the RFID Journal Awards Web site to learn more. The Coolest Demo contest is open to any exhibitor. Contact your sales representative about how to apply.
